It also makes it more convenient to drag because of less friction. 


Because of this change in design, the weight of the skid does not rest on the bottom deck. Rather it rests on its vertical slats or legs. This provides mobility to the skid in comparison to that of a pallet to make the skid a better option to shift materials from one particular place to another. Moreover, the skid is ideal for non-mobile use and is mostly utilized as the foundation of heavy machinery. 


Another benefit of a skid is that it utilizes less space and can be easily stored if nested. Technically, nestable pallets are skids as well. Still, they don’t have that bottom deck. Nestable pallets are a more flexible middle ground between the advantages of a skid and those of a pallet. 


Concept of a Crate
